What Makes Glenbrook Special?

What Makes Glenbrook Special?

Old Fashioned Fourth of July Celebration!

From the Flag Raising Ceremony at 8:00am to Fireworks after dark, Glenbrook is the best place to be on the 4th of July!

My favorite part begins first thing in the morning when we gather at the flagpole by the pier to honor those who have served and those who currently serve in our military.

Opening with the pledge of allegiance our community gathers -  from babies to centenarians -  some still in pajamas, others in uniform and all sorts of Red, White and Blue to celebrate our great nation.  The HOA provides coffee, OJ and the best, fresh donuts for everyone.

The highlight comes when the official songs of each branch of Military Service are played:  Anchors Aweigh; From the Halls of Montezuma; Off We Go Into the Wild Blue Yonder….. as Service Men and Women walk forward and are recognized.  We are so blessed to still have some friends and neighbors who served in World War II!

Seeing a young active service person standing next to someone who is over 100 years old warms my heart- how grateful we are for their service!

During the day, folks enjoy some beach time, go boating on the lake or take a hike.

Families decorate their golf carts, bikes and scooters for the parade that commences in the late afternoon.  Whether in the parade or watching  - everyone gets in the spirit.

A picnic supper, organized by the HomeOwners Association is held in Yerington Park

Followed by fireworks  over Glenbrook Bay.
